The President of the House of Councillors, Mr Enaam Mayara,received on Wednesday the 7th of February 2024 at the House’s headquarters in Rabat H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser bin Ibrahim Al-Fadala, President of The Association of Secretaries-General of the Arab Parliaments who led an important delegation.
At the beginning of this meeting, Mr President gave an overview of the House of Councillors and its unique constitutional position in view of the diversity of its formulation with regional, social, professional and economic reaches as well as the specificity of its functions. He also stressed the importance of the role played by The Association of Secretaries-General of the Arab Parliaments in supporting the work of Arab legislative institutions and their efforts to support joint parliamentary action.
In this respect, Mr President noted the paramount importance of parliamentary administration in strengthening and facilitating the work of legislative institutions, considering that the secretariats-general of parliaments play key and central roles to support parliamentarians and to enable them to fulfil their missions.
The President highlighted the need to establish permanent channels of communication and exchanges of visits, experiences and expertise between the Moroccan Parliament and The Association of Secretaries-General of the Arab Parliaments, as well as to coordinate positions in international forums in the service of the Arab nation's issues.
From his part, H.EDr. Ahmed Bensar Al-Fadala expressed his pride in this meeting, which is part of the Association’s efforts to improve Arab parliamentary work. Dr. Al-Fadalawas particularly impressed by Morocco's parliamentary experience in administration, noting in this regard the importance of the Parliamentary Centre for Research and Studies, which the Association aspires to benefit from its expertise.
Dr.Fadala stressed the vitality of the roles played by The Association of Secretaries-General of the Arab Parliaments in the current context marked by enormous challenges facing the Arab nation, highlighting the need to develop a strategic action plan to enable active parliamentary diplomacy in order to serve the Arab nation's causes and defend their interests.
